What is stokesay court?

Stokesay Court is a Grade II* listed mansion located in the village of Onibury in Shropshire, England. It was built in 1889 for John Derby Allcroft, a wealthy textile magnate, and his family. The architect was Thomas Harris, who also designed some of the interior decorations. Stokesay Court is known for its Elizabethan-style architecture, with a mixture of brick, timber, and stone construction.

The estate is also famous for its well-manicured gardens, which feature a wide variety of plants and flowers. The medieval-style Great Hall is the centerpiece of the mansion, complete with a minstrels' gallery, Gothic fireplace, and hand-carved oak paneling. Stokesay Court was used as a filming location for several movies, including "Atonement," "The Timekeeper," and "The Queen."

Today, Stokesay Court is open to the public for guided tours of the house and gardens. Visitors can learn about the history of the estate and the Allcroft family through interactive displays and artifacts. The estate also hosts weddings and private events in its luxurious banquet room and outdoor spaces.
